Some things just don’t translate. Some names are just mystifying. All of these restaurants sound delicious.

1. Colon Restaurant (Barcelona, Spain)
2. My Dung Restaurant (Rosemead, Calif.)
3. Mee Heng Low’s Chop Suey (San Luis Obispo, Calif.)
4. Hung Far Low Restaurant (Portland, Ore.)
5. Golden Shower Restaurant (Moshi, Tanzania)
6. Fu King Chinese Restaurant (Lake City, Fla.)
7. Crapitto’s Cucina Italiana (Houston, Texas)
   Quotes from their website: “Crapitto’s made us feel right at home.” “Quaint and romantic.”
8. Pu Pu Hot Pot (Cambridge,Mass.)
   It’s useful to note that at the time of this writing, the restaurant only has a 2.5 star rating on Yelp. I’ll refrain from the obvious jokes here….
9. Cabbages and Condoms (Bangkok, Thailand)
   Note that Tripadvisor says it’s “good for: romantic.” Um, sure.

And the best of them all, in part because it’s a chain. Which means people are eating here. Regularly:

    And no, the friendly pelican on the restaurant’s website cannot offset the wonderfully appetizing name.
